Name: Mary Lowery

Character: Lucille

Character Questions

1. BSM: What sort of person is going to love this character?

The type of person to love Lucille is an independent black woman who wants more to her life. Someone who strives in doing life the “right” way. Full education, a husband, children and a career.

2. BSM: How is the character like you? Different?

Lucille is like myself in the fact that I have a drive to have my own family and a career. I think we’re different because she definitely can be scared of others' opinions. I tell it like it is and don’t care as much.

3. BSM: Is it easier to play this character or to be yourself on screen?

It’s honestly easier to play this character. I love acting because it gives me a chance to actually know what to say (because of the script) and in my real life I find myself stumbling over my words. I’m a very shy person so it can be hard to express myself.

4. BSM: What do you love about this character?

I love Lucille’s determination. I love her eagerness and her ability to take control of a situation.

5. BSM: What do you hate about this character?

I don’t hate anything about her, but I hate that she hides everything. Most of the life we know about her is hidden.

6. BSM: What’s the biggest challenge about taking on this role?

The biggest challenge for me is getting into the mindset of a different “person”. Saying the lines is one thing but pretending to be someone else can be difficult.

7. BSM: Without giving anything away, what is your favorite line of dialogue?

My favorite line is “Oh no! I still want a husband and children, but I want an education Lil. I want to study the great writers and philosophers. I want to be more than simply a man’s wife.” It showcases Lucille’s independence! Being a man’s wife doesn’t mean she isn’t her own person.

8. BSM: Besides yourself, which actor in this production is going to blow people away?

Definitely Isabelle Armstrong, also known as Octavia. She’s amazing.

9. BSM: What makes a good scene partner?

Someone who makes a good scene partner is someone who can put the same energy into the scene as you. Give great emotion and something for you to bounce off of.

10. BSM: Who’s the funniest person in the cast in real life?

The funniest person I’d say is Dushawn! He’s always saying something wild and hilarious!

General Questions

1. BSM: If someone was going to make your life a movie, who would play you?

I think someone who could play me in real life is Skai Jackson. She has so much talent.

2. BSM: When did you first perform?

I first performed in maybe middle school. I played a townsperson in beauty and the beast!

3. BSM: Besides this project, what’s your favorite project or film you have done?

Besides this, I haven’t done anything super professional. I’m excited to get started though!

4. BSM: Who do you look up to (as an actor/actress/director/etc?

One of my favorite actresses is Zendaya. She’s great at everything and I’ve grown up watching her a lot.

5. BSM: When you have a five-minute break during rehearsal, what do you spend your time doing?

Going over some lines, drinking some water and taking a breather.

6. BSM: If you had a magic wand, what show would you do next?

Euphoria! That would be such a huge role and a great show to be involved in.

7. BSM: What’s the last thing you do before you step out on stage/lights, camera, action?

Prepare myself mentally to become the character. It helps with nervousness and jitters.

8. BSM: Where do you see yourself in five years? Life? Goals? Career?

In 5 years, I hope to be as financially successful as I can be. I’d also hope to be doing well in social media and achieving my goals of becoming an influencer. I’d also love to do some more acting jobs!

9. BSM: What do you do in your spare time (hobby)?

I love doing tik-toks, making YouTube videos, and watching Netflix.

10. BSM: Besides acting, do you have another passion or job? What do you do or what is your passion?
